  • All critical data should be backed up daily onto reliable media - tape, disk or online.
  • Companies often back up server data only for users to save key documents on their C: drive which are not backed up.
  • Media should be checked regularly to ensure that files are being backed up correctly.
  • All back up media should be stored off site.
• Databases
  • All customer data should be stored in a secure and robust database.
  • Where customer information includes sensitive or financial information fully secure server databases as SQL Server or mySQL should be used.
• Security
  • Ensure all PC's and servers have full virus protection.
  • If a broadband connection is present then a firewall is essential to protect against malicious intrusion.
  • All passwords should be secret!
